Mr. Kevin O’Toole
Head of Strategy, Flightglobal
Kevin O’Toole is the Head of Strategy for the Flightglobal media group, which includes the leading www.flightglobal.com website, the Flight International and Airline Business magazines, as well as the ATI and ACAS premium services and a host of other online, offline and face-to-face offerings.
In this role he helped to pioneer the reshaping of Flightglobal into a 21st century publishing unit with the web at its centre. The group’s website has emerged as the aviation world’s largest professional online portal attracting around one million unique visitors and over six million page views a month. He also leads the group’s acquisition and business development activity, which has included the integration of the ACAS, Commercial Aviation, Flightblogger, JP airline-fleets and World Air Transport Forum brands into the group.
Before taking up this role in from 1998 to 2005, he led monthly magazine Airline Business, the industry’s leading strategic boardroom title and previously worked for six years as Business Editor on sister magazine Flight International.
Kevin O’Toole has been a familiar commentator on international media, including BBC and CNN news, and also a regular speaker at industry forums and strategy discussion groups for a range of air transport bodies.

Qi Fazi is Vice Mayor of Shenyang Municipal Government, having previously held the post of Deputy Secretary-General from 1992-2008.
During his time as Deputy Secretary-General, he variously also held other posts including Director of Financial Work Office from 2001-2008; Director of Municipal Commerce Committee from 1999-2001; and Director-General of Municipal Township Enterprise Bureau, Deputy Director-General of Municipal Agriculture & Industry Committee from 1992-1999. In addition, from 1999-2008 he was Secretary of the Party Leadership Group.
Qi Fazi started his career in 1976 as Officer of the Publicity Division of Shenyang City’s Grain Bureau, going on to study at Liaoning University’s Department of Chinese Literature, 1978-1982, majoring in Chinese Language and Literature.
He joined the Shenyang Municipal Government in 1982 as Clerk & Deputy Director of General Affairs Division of General Office, rising to Deputy Director of General Office in 1985 and, from 1990-1992, Deputy Secretary-General of Shenyang Municipal Government.

Wang Wenbin is Assistant General Manager of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China and is also Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Society of Aeronautics. The projects he has participated in throughout his career include Y10, MD90 and the ARJ 21 regional jet.
Most recently, from August 2001 to July 2008 he was Factory Director of the Shanghai Aircraft Factory, prior to that he was Vice Director from March 1993. Between October 1988 and March 1992 he was Deputy Director of the Quality Assurance Department, rising to Director of the Quality Assurance Department in March 1992.

His previous position was Chief Operating Officer of Cathay Pacific, to which he was appointed in January 2005, and prior to that he was Director Corporate Development of the airline for eight years. Mr. Tyler is also Chairman of Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Ltd and a Director of John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Limited and Swire Pacific Limited. He was elected Chairman of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Board of Governors with effect from June 2009. He is a graduate of Oxford University.

Lim Kim Hai started his career as a Defence Engineer specialising in underwater warfare. After 10 years he left to start his own business. He is the founding shareholder and Executive Chairman of Regional Express, Australia’s largest regional airline listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
He is also the Chairman of a biomedical company in Singapore, Lynk Biotechnologies, as well as Chairman of WooWorld, a supplier of mobile games and content to telecommunication companies in Japan and South East Asia.
He obtained his Masters in Electronics Engineering from the prestigious French ‘Grande Ecoles’ engineering colleges where he was sent on a French Government scholarship. He later returned to France to complete a Masters of Public Administration at the elite Ecole Nationale d’Administration in Paris on a Singapore Government scholarship. Mr Lim has also a Masters of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore.

Graduating with an Aeronautical Engineering degree in 1994, James’ initial three-year spell in Performance Engineering was followed by a move to the customer-facing part of the business.

Sven Hugel has been responsible for the business and operations of MTU Aero Engines’ new Geared Turbofan Programs since 2008. Previously, from 2002 onwards, he was Industrial Manager for the Center of Commercial Programs, gaining experience in program direction and logistics.
He joined MTU in September 1999 as a Validation and Test Engineer at the company’s Engine Controls and Testing Center, gaining experience in designing, developing, testing and certifying engines.
Sven Hugel began his studies at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the Technische Universität Stuttgart in 1993. Special emphases were obtained at the Institute of Propulsion Systems and at the Institute of Aircraft Design (in particular materials). In 1996 he passed an internship at the former Daimler-Benz Aerospace Airbus GmbH in Hamburg-Finkenwerder, Germany. In 1998 he spent half a year in United Kingdom to do a thesis at the University of Southampton at the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Back in Germany he wrote his diploma thesis at the former Daimler Chrysler AG at the Department of Research and Technology in Ottobrunn and received his degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1999.

Tom Hoang has been with Boeing Commercial Airplanes for 17 years and has held various positions in both Engineering and Marketing departments. As regional director, he leads Boeing air cargo monitoring efforts in Europe and the People’s Republic of China, and is a key member of the team that produces The Boeing Company’s World Air Cargo Forecast.
He is also the cargo team’s delegate in working with the company’s environmental team as it addresses key issues facing the aviation industry including aircraft noise reduction, greenhouse gas emissions and alternative fuels research. Most recently, he held a similar position, focused on the Americas region.
Previously, Tom Hoang worked in the Product Analysis group, where he was responsible for Market Communication initiatives for the Twin Aisle Programs. He also worked in Engineering where he was responsible for all cargo-related issues, ranging from requirements and certification of cargo compartment air conditioning/heating systems to the transportation of dangerous goods and live animals.

Dean of the School of Engineeriၮg, University of Connecticut
Dr. Mr. Mun Y. Choi is Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Connecticut. His current research interests focus on the effects of sooting and radiation on droplet combustion, and soot diagnostic techniques. In collaborations with researchers at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Sandia National Laboratory, he has measured optical and physical properties of soot produced from various-scale flames and fires.
Other investigations involve research on spherically-symmetric droplet combustion and have enhanced the understanding of how sooting and radiation behaviours influence droplet burning characteristics. His experiments on droplet combustion are slated to be conducted aboard the International Space Station in 2009 through 2013. Many of his studies focus on understanding the performance characteristics of alternative liquid hydrocarbon fuels and additives typically used in automotive and jet engines.
Dr. Choi received his BS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1987 and his MA and PhD from the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department at Princeton University in 1989 and 1992, respectively. He has served as a National Research Council post-doctoral fellow at NIST from 1992 to 1993. Dr. Choi has also held faculty positions at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Drexel University

During his time with Rolls-Royce he was responsible for the customer interface for SE Asian customers, led the development of TotalCare as well as the launch of the customer e-business portal Aeromanager. For 19 years David Jones worked in the airline industry with both Malaysia Airlines and British Airways and held various engineering and marketing as well as business roles.

Mark Hayman, aged 49, joined the Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited in October 2001 and has been Director Engineering since February 2002.
He was previously General Manager Engineering Planning and Technical Supplies of Cathay Pacific Airways. He joined the Swire group in 1987. He is a licensed aircraft engineer by trade and holds an MBA from Kellogg.

Single Aisle Fleet Director, New Aircraft and Corporate Fleet Planning Department, Air France
Henri Hurlin is Single Aisle Fleet Director in the New Aircraft and Corporate Fleet Planning Department at Air France – a post he has held since 2001. He also heads engine evaluation – environment matters.
His expertise includes fleet management, engine selection, aircraft evaluation, aircraft introduction, engineering and maintenance. Henri Hurlin has 25 years experience in various field of engineering and maintenance (main base and out stations) as Propulsion Engineering Director, Aircraft Engineering Director, and Maintenance Director working for UTA and Air France.
Henri Hurlin graduated from ENSEM Nancy in mechanical engineering and ENSPM (French Institute of Petroleum) in propulsion engineering.
